Vitamin HB | Feeling Flaky?

Feeling a bit flaky?  A while back, I met with a client who out of no where, had a case of very severe dandruff.  She had never had any issues with flaky scalp in the past, but the was so obvious that it was really taking a toll on her confidence.  Her wedding was coming up in just a few months and she felt so insecure about the issue, she was looking for a veil that completely covered the top of her head.

More men and women suffer from dandruff than you may think. The best way to battle flaky scalp is to determine the root cause.  Figure out whether you have dandruff, a fungal or bacteria infection, or irritation caused from over drying or sunburn. Then start by treating your hair the right way. We put my client on a scheduled treatment and her hair was better within 2 weeks and completely better in 1 month.  Here are my fool-proof tips:

  • Use a Rinse: Take 1/2 cup  Apple Cider Vinegar with 2 cups water and rinse through your hair. Let sit for 20-30 mintues, then rinse with warm water.  The Apple Cider vinegar will help regulate the PH balance of your scalp and fight irritation
  • Use a Moisture-Pack Antifungal: Massage Tea Tree Oil on your scalp which works as an antifungal treatment that will fight any fungus or bacteria infection. Let sit for 20-30 minutes before rinsing
  • Treat in the Shower: Try using a medicated shampoo like Selsun Blue Medicated Shampoo
  • Avoid Over drying: Stay away from using things with alcohol like hair spray, or blow drying too close to your roots
  • Change Your diet: Increase salmon and walnuts in your diet which are rich in Omega 3 fatty acids, or try taking Omega 3 Vitamins each day
