Model Eats Cotton to Surpress Hunger?

By Huda Heidi Kattan

We all know that models are under extreme pressure to stay thin, but what measures will they take? Sure we’ve all heard the typical extremely saddening story of Bulimia and Anorexia, and how it can take serious tolls on the health of such young girls. If you haven’t heard of Sessilee Lopez, then you might know her mother, Janice Celeste who has written a tell-all book on the life of models, including some disturbing details! In her book, Making a Supermodel, she dishes:

“I’ve seen some life-threatening measures models have gone through to lose weight. Luckily my daughter has never had a weight problem that kick-boxing couldn’t solve. I personally know of one model who dipped cotton balls in orange juice and consumed it to feel full. Later it came out that she had anorexia.”

Let’s not forget that super skinny if not healthy, is not hot!! I know the pressures may be there, but there’s no way you can stay beautiful, without living a healthy lifestyle! So sad!!

YA LATEEEEEEEEEEEEF !!! that’s about the craziest thing i’ve heard in a while. Seriously? cotton calls in orange juice? EW! Do they seriously have that much low self esteem that they’d eaat cotton? can cotton be eaten? can it sprout out like how it does in plants? can your hair fuzz turn into cottony fuzz? lol, sorry it’s just stupid to me, stupid that there are actual people going to that extreme level JUST to stay thin. And please don’t anyone take offense. I just to look at the funny side of things. COTTON??

Yeah, well, sometimes those desperate measures models take is necessary to sustain their careers (a.k.a. modeling). My mother was a model and she ranged up in the 100 lbs. by eating cotton dipped in fruit juices.

The cotton hadn’t done damage really, but it may have been because her metabolism was fast as a bad manicure and her body was capable to digest the cotton fast and easily.

But anyway, the agents put an immense amount of pressure on the models which leads to some serious mental issues (i.e. anorexia, bulimia and yes, eating material objects such as cotton).

These eating disorders is seen as a sign of weakness to many (especially those who never had eating disorders) when in reality it takes a vast amount of determination and strong will for them to keep that up, even long enough to lose weight.

My point here is just that even though what models do to achieve their goals is unhealthy to the extreme, it doesn’t by any means mean that they are weak or dumb or anything. Their just going to the extreme to keep their jobs and their income.

So, this is a really long reply/comment, but I hope you might think a second time before dissing someone with an eating disorder.

Remember, models live by the quote: ‘Beauty is pain’. Literally, it is.

Tell me what you think Gorgeous?!
