Tried & Tested | C.O. Bigelow’s Shea Lip Butter

I’ve always loooooved those rose-balms-in-a-tin! They smell amazing, feel great and make even the chappest lips so soft in under 10 minutes (I’ve actually tested this)! So when I walked into Bath and Body Works the other day, I was so excited when I saw C.O. Bigelow had expanded their line to Coconut and Shea Lip Butters! I couldn’t wait to leave the store and rub those suckers on!

At first try, the texture was quite heavy for a lip butter, but if felt nice on my lips! I was soooo excited because my lips tend to get chapped quite easy, and I thought this would be great to help them heal! After about an hour of wearing the butter, I wiped it off to see how soft my lips felt, but was so disappointed! While the consistency was so thick, it seems to just kind of sit on top of your lips without really adding any serious moisture—BUMMER!

I’m honestly, NOT a huge fan of this product! I tried both the Shea and Coconut Butters and 100% prefer the classic rose balm over these new additions! The new butters are so thick, like too thick, and there’s no real moisture there, it kind of just sits there!! I also found them to be one of those annoying lip butters that tend to get everywhere and stick! The only thing I would say is that it does last a long time, which is kind of nice, but that’s really about the only thing I like about the product! Sometimes there’s no reason to change a good thing!

I find that raw Shea butter works a treat on my lips. It’s a great multi-tasker and I’ll use it as a lip balm, foot cream, use it to moisturise dry patches and elbows too.

For ANYONE out there looking you most try Strawberry Lip Balm. It’s by Smiths. I got it at sephora. My parents live in the driest place on earth and I must use prescription body cream because I live in a humid city. Their water is hard as well. Well I picked up this stuff (Same people who make lip salve btw but that stuff doesnt really moisturise just wets my lips). AHMASING!! Lasts all day. And nothing does that for me!
